About SPA

Somali Petroleum Authority (SPA) was established in July 2020 following the Presidential ratification of the Petroleum Law on 8 February 2020. The law established the SPA to regulate, influence and promote the Somali petroleum industry in order to maximise the economic recovery of the country’s oil and gas reserves. The SPA is headquartered in Mogadishu and has a mandate from the Government to develop a sustainable and competitive industry in the interests of all Somali people. The SPA is under the jurisdiction of the National Resources Council.
